DANIEL ISLAND, SC – November 4, 2026 – Charleston Healthspan – Hormones & Peptides, a Daniel Island practice that provides hormone therapy for men and women in the Charleston area, is sharing U.S. Census Bureau population estimates for Berkeley County, along with information on how its consultation, services and payment process work.
The guide draws on the Census Bureau’s Vintage 2025 population estimates for Berkeley County, which includes Daniel Island.
Berkeley County Population Estimates
Berkeley County’s estimated population reached 274,666 on July 1, 2025, a 19.5 percent increase over the April 2020 estimates base of 229,779, the Census Bureau reports. The county had an estimated 110,241 housing units in 2025, and the Census Bureau reports 2,299 building permits for the year.
Residents age 65 and older made up 16.2 percent of the county’s population, and those under 18 made up 22.9 percent.
These estimates describe the county’s population. They do not say anything about the health needs of any one person.
How a First Visit Works
According to the practice, timing and treatment depend on each patient’s symptoms, medical history and lab results. A hormone evaluation comes first, and any plan is built around the individual patient’s goals. The website lists symptoms that lead people to ask about therapy, including mood changes, fatigue, low energy and loss of muscle mass. Whether a given treatment is appropriate is a decision made with the provider after an evaluation.
Patients do not have to sign up for a monthly program or annual contract. The practice says it sets each patient’s regimen individually.
Payment and Insurance
Charleston Healthspan is an out-of-network provider and does not accept insurance payments for its services. It gives patients a statement listing services with diagnosis, laboratory and procedure codes, which patients can submit to their insurer for possible reimbursement or toward a deductible or flexible spending account. The practice has opted out of Medicare, so patients with Medicare cannot file claims for services there. It does not publish prices and says costs vary by treatment.
Charleston Healthspan’s Work in the Charleston Area
The practice’s services menu includes bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, including pellet therapy; menopause and andropause care; sexual health care; peptide therapy; GLP-1 therapy and medically supervised weight loss; PRP hair restoration; and postpartum hormone support. The practice states that it uses only bio-identical hormones. Its website names Dr. Susan Kady Wilson as its physician and says she has more than 27 years of experience in hormone replacement therapy.
The main office is at 125 River Landing Dr on Daniel Island, and the website lists additional offices in Summerville and Georgetown.
